Erika Kellar

Co-founder/Veterinarian

Growing up with a farmful of animals, showing horses and helping with dog rescue, Dr. Kellar undoubtedly knew which career path she would follow - a veterinarian. When asked what she would do if she didn’t become a veterinarian, the simple answer was “its not an option, I WILL become a veterinarian.” Never wavering from that path, she graduated in 2006 and went into mixed animal veterinary practice. She has been happily living her dream ever since. Thankfully this path has led her to her biggest dream and passion - The Outskirts of Heaven.

Dr. Kellar received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Washington State University. Once she completed her time at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Kellar spent a year at Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine and earned a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She has been working in small and mixed animal practice since graduating.

Dr. Kellar provides veterinary care to all of our residents at the Outskirts of Heaven. She also oversees the animal enrichment program and sets up individualized meal plans.

In her free time, Dr. Kellar spends quality time with her husband, 4 children and her menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, pigs and chickens. She enjoys spending time outdoors, boating, traveling and camping.

Daniel Kellar

Co-founder

After meeting Erika in 2003 Dan’s life quickly became a lot more slobbery and hairy… and no not because of Erika but because of the 4 legged family she brought with her. Helping her with after hour house call emergencies and their own emergencies on the farm, Dans’ knowledge of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry grew. His fascination and love for animals also grew and before long he was bringing home the unwanted ponies, calves, dogs, cats, injured wildlife.. you name it. Dan is excited that the Outskirts of Heaven is allowing him to incorporate his managing experience to give back to society through caring for animals.

Dan spent 12 years in the US Military before receiving his Bachelors degree in Education. He then went on to complete his Masters degree in Arts and Management in 2007 from Wayland Baptist University. After graduating, Dan has spent his time in corporate management and human resources.

Dan provides oversight for business/pet financial planning for the Outskirts of Heaven. When not in the office he keeps the grounds pristine and holds the title for his superiority in poop scooping techniques. All of the pets love Dan as he is the rowdy fun dad who likes to spend his time hiking the trails or cooling off in the creek with his 4 legged pack. He also enjoys spending time with his 2 legged pack that consists of a wife and 4 children.
